The Life And The Light

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:4-5

Napoleon Bonaparte And Jesus

Have you ever heard what Napoleon Bonaparte said about Jesus? Toward the end of his life Bonaparte was living in exile on St. Helena, a remote island in the South Atlantic. It was there that he said to his friend General Bertrand: “I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison.”

Many believe Bonaparte converted to Christianity while living in exile on that island. Bonaparte recognized that Jesus is more than a man. “In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Hello Darkness My Old Friend

“Hello darkness my old friend” Simon and Garfunkel sang in the seventies. There’s darkness in your life. I know there is because there’s darkness in my life too. The truth is darkness is a problem for all of us. But the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.

Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)

In him, the one who is more than a man, in him is light and life, abundant life. And he wants you to experience that abundant life.

So why not? Why not change direction and pursue that abundant life now?

Have You Asked Yourself This Question?

Stop, and genuinely promise you’ll give an honest answer, and then ask yourself this question: How much of His light is making its way into my life right now?

You know you have to open up to Him to let His light in. So do it. Open up to Him.

Let His light in.

Invest in Him. Study Him. Learn as much as you can about Him. Love God the way Jesus instructed us to. Love other Christians the way Jesus instructed us to. Become a disciple of Jesus. Go to church where you can love other disciples in the way Jesus described. (John 13:35)

Let His light in.

Let Him change your life.

Let Him make your life abundant.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

  1. Awesome!
Php_2:15 that you may be blameless and harmless, children of God, without fault in the midst of a crooked generation, even having been perverted, among whom you shine as luminaries in the world,

  2. In light of events at the international, national, and local level that could overwhelm, this is a timely reminder from whom my peace, help, hope, and joy comes from- the Light of the World. Thanks Kurt.
