Things I Heard In Church: God catches your tears in a bottle

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” (Revelation 21:5)

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

Why I Rejected The Light (And Why You Do Too)

SunBurst10 by NASA-CC

And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God. (John 3:19-21)

How I Hated That Light

In the last week I had two conflicts with two of the three people I love more than anyone on the planet. In the first conflict someone Continue reading

Things I Heard In Church: Here is a great lie, “All we actually have is today.”

The following is a quote from Matt Bowen’s teaching on  Joy, 12/13/2015. The text for this teaching is Isaiah 25:6-9.

One of the great lies that our world often believes is that all we actually have is today. (This is one of the great lies that fuels a whole lot of really stupid purchases. All you have is right now–before the sale ends.)

You Are Not Condemned

Hell

Last post on the book of John we saw how God so loved us, that He allowed His Son to suffer a horrible death, to pay the price for our sins, so we could be reconciled to Him in heaven. That’s the message of John 3:16. And then in John 3:17 we saw how God’s purpose isn’t to condemn anyone, but instead His purpose is exactly the opposite, His purpose is to rescue everyone from condemnation. (John 3:17, 2 Peter 3:9, See previous post For God So Loved You)

Today we’ll explore the next verse after John 3:16-17. Speaking of himself Jesus says,

“Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” (John 3:18)

Suffering, Evil, And Condemnation

You know, among atheists, the number one objection to the God of the Bible is Continue reading

The Disgusting Thing This Guy Did For His Daughter

I read about a guy today who gave up on love. In the third grade he decided “love was for girls,” which might be kind of funny except he continued his boycott of love all the way through high school. He even refused to Continue reading
