Things I Heard In Church: These 2 (two-ish) Questions

Things I heard in church: These 2 (two-ish) Questions

First, the wrong question. This is a question I’ve asked myself in the past and a question most of us ask: “How much can I please myself and still be saved?”

But that’s my self serving, selfish nature asking that question. Here’s the second and right question to ask, a question I don’t ask enough: “How close can I get to Christ? How Can I grow closer? What can I do to draw closer to God?” (James 4:8)

  1. Here is my two cents for the following questions which I believe for myself, and this works!:
    1) How close can I get to my Savior?
As close as I desire to get….but the main issue is having His Spirit within; this is His amazing contact with any of us. We can claim to know Him but may not be filled with His Spirit.
    2) How can I grow closer?
Spend time in prayer, in worship, and in studying His Word from Genesis to Revelation. Without the whole of the story, we lack knowing Him through HIStory. What He did in the beginning is declared in the end of His Holy Book revealing patterns of evidence.
    3) What can I do to draw closer?
Follow His instructions given to us through Moses. Of course there is no temple, no sacrifices because He is our sacrifice and He has made us clean by His death on the cross. We are blessed because He opened the way for the gentiles to come in to His family– the Father, the Son, working through the Spirit within us. We are now part of His human family because we are told in Ephesians 2:12-14 that we are part of the commonwealth of Israel.
    And I might add..
    4) He obeyed all His Father’s rules; shouldn’t I? Trust and obey, there is no other way! For He spoke these words to the religious leaders:
Joh 5:45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
Joh 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
Joh 5:47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
