Being Jesus

Last Tuesday I had dinner with a man who, for a time, had fallen away from his faith in Jesus. He stayed far from God for a number of years, but, then he found himself among people who attracted him to Christ. He said,

“The thing about these people is that they were being Jesus.”

He found their Christlike good works and their Christlike behavior compelling. He found them so compelling, that he came back to Jesus. And that’s where he is today: in Christ, a follower of Jesus, and a lover of Jesus.

It’s the love of Jesus that leads people to repentance. (Romans 2:4)

“Lord help me and the dear person reading this right now to be filled with the deep abiding love of Jesus for You and for everyone You put in front of us. Give us Your Holy Spirit to help us do good works that please You. Give us strength to do Christlike good works and to live our lives like Jesus lived his.

“In Jesus’ name we ask this of You.

“Amen.”
