From the Depths of the Pit

Hey there. Maybe, like me, you think what we’re going through is like a pit, a dark place, a low point, a pit of despair. I read this, this morning and it gave me hope. Maybe it will do the same for you.

“I called on your name, O Lord,
    from the depths of the pit;
you heard my plea, ‘Do not close
    your ear to my cry for help!’
You came near when I called on you;
    you said, ‘Do not fear!’

Lamentations 3:55-57

  1. When my country was at its pandemic worst and the world was also convulsing in its own fears and anxiety, I wanted to offer an explanation. I wanted to explain how my Lord could still be good and is still hearing me out(the way He’s always been). But, I couldn’t. So, I headed for a pit(I didn’t know how to read about people dying and still delight in Him and I was fearing for my life and the life of my loved ones).

    And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

    So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?

    He’s never in the chaos of anything. .Find him in that stillness of everything. He will come for you. He did for me. He did for my nation.
