God Running is a place for anyone who wants to (or even anyone who wants to want to) love Jesus more deeply, follow Jesus more closely, and love people the way Jesus wants us to.
Some of my friends and family have been remarkably courageous during this pandemic. But I have to admit, some are struggling with fear. So for anyone in that latter category right now, I offer this quote that a friend of mine sent me recently. This man of God said what I’m feeling and what I’m striving for better than I ever could.
“There is nothing to be dreaded in human ills except sin—not poverty, or disease, or insult, or ill treatment, or dishonor, or death, which people call the worst of evils. To those who love spiritual wisdom, these things are only the names of disasters, names that have no substance. No, the true disaster is to offend God, to do anything that displeases him.”
— St. John Chrysostom, A Year with the Church Fathers, p. 334
“Father, be merciful to us because we’re sinners. Fill us with faith in You and trust in You the way Jesus had faith in You and trusted You. Give us courage and wisdom, and love for You and for others during this pandemic and always.
“In Jesus’ name we ask this of You.
“Amen.”
