God Running is a place for anyone who wants to (or even anyone who wants to want to) love Jesus more deeply, follow Jesus more closely, and love people the way Jesus wants us to.

I’ve been traveling with Gabriel this past week and I was reminded of a time when we were both playing the same MMORPG video game, a game called EVE Online. Gabe was hanging out with some of the best players in the game. I wasn’t. And as a result Gabe was a very skilled player — and — I wasn’t. In fact, I was pretty terrible. (I still had a great time though.)

Anyway, all that to say, you become who you hang with. Not just who you spend time with face to face, but also you become like the podcasters you listen to and the authors you read and the YouTubers you watch.

With this in mind I realized I haven’t been spending time in the Gospels recently. So a few days ago, beginning in Matthew, I started studying the life of Jesus again.

There are a gazillion people out there creating content who would love to have you as a part of their audience. Or maybe they’re already gone but their content still remains, C.S. Lewis comes to mind.

The best you can do is to choose to connect with Jesus himself in the Gospels and through prayer and in communion. And to surround yourself with people who most resemble Jesus, including the content creators you watch or listen to.

Be intentional about who you hang with.
