Life Is Short (and we’re all going to die)

A mysterious figure appears to ascend among clouds, with a snow-covered railing in the foreground and a single red rose resting on it.

A few weeks ago, a family member was in the hospital for a surgery and there were serious complications. I thought we might lose her. Tomorrow morning my family is honoring another family member who died.

Can I just remind you?

Life is short.

Live for Christ.

In Your hands, O Lord,

we humbly entrust our loved one.

In this life You embraced her with Your tender love;

deliver her now from every evil

and bid her eternal rest.

The old order has passed away:

welcome her into paradise,

where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,

but fullness of peace and joy

with Your Son and the Holy Spirit

forever and ever.

Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
