How I Burned The Pizza (And Tried To Pin It On Kathy): John 4:43-45

After the two days he departed for Galilee. (For Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own hometown.) So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast. For they too had gone to the feast. John 4:43-45

This is one of Jesus’ overlooked best moments, because he just finished spending two days with a large group of Samaritans who were soaking up everything he had to say. But now, now he turns his attention to his hometown, Galilee, where last time, his friends and family took offense when he spoke.

Damian Lillard, Stephen Curry, and Bad Christian Examples

Lillard vs Westbrook

Lillard Drops 50

By now, like most basketball fans, you’ve seen Damian Lillard’s 37-foot game winner that sent Russell Westbrook and the OKC Thunder home for the season. And you also know it’s undeniable that as good as Lillard was last season, he’s made a big leap to an even higher level this season.

Recently I learned why.

See And Hear For Yourself

Die to selfSo when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days. And many more believed because of his word. They said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Savior of the world.” John 4:40-42

Things I Heard In Church: “His Name Tag Says, Tatsu Yamashiro”

Things I Heard In Church: “His name tag says, Tatsu Yamashiro.”

Every Tuesday night at six, Cedar Mill Bible Church hosts a dinner called The Jesus Table. At The Jesus Table an excellent meal and warm friendship are provided for the homeless and anyone else who has trouble affording food or finding a friend. The dishwasher for The Jesus Table is a guy in his twenties who wears a different name tag every week. Each name is the alter ego of a fictional superhero, like Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent.

Last Tuesday night, in the Jesus Table kitchen, his name tag said, “Tatsu Yamashiro.”

Albert Einstein And Chasing Light

“Albert Einstein was said to have spent his entire career chasing a ray of light. All of his research was really to get to know the properties of light… In all that study he never actually fully understood light, but in the process of pursuing it he made some of the most remarkable discoveries of his generation, and for generations to come.” -Sosamma Samuel Burnett

7 Reasons You Can Relax About Evangelism

(Read John 4:31-42.) In our last post from the book of John we learned about how Jesus commands us to go and make disciples of all nations. I don’t know about you but whenever this topic comes up, the topic of evangelism, I start feeling pretty awkward. But while we can’t ignore Jesus’ command to evangelize, we don’t have to stress about it. In today’s post we’ll look at seven reasons why we can relax while evangelizing. Read More

Monty Williams’s Words At His Wife’s Memorial Service

Wise Words

Last Tuesday, in Oklahoma City, a car crossed the centerline and collided head on with the vehicle of Ingrid Williams, the wife of Monty Williams, an assistant coach for the OKC Thunder and former head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans. Monty’s wife was killed in the crash. They have five children.

Last night on TNT’s NBA halftime show, rather than talk about hoops they aired this video of “what Monty Williams had to say in the wake of unspeakable tragedy.”
