Things I Heard In Church: “I saw a homeless man crawl out from under a bush.”

A woman up on the stage said to the congregation, “I saw a homeless man crawl out from under a bush.”

When she saw that happen it was part of what inspired the Jesus Table at Cedar Mill Bible Church. Every Tuesday night they offer a free hot meal and a warm welcome to anyone who needs either, or both. “Many people struggle just to meet basic physical needs from week to week. Through this gathering our goal is to give a bit of rest from these struggles and provide a sense of connection and belonging,” that’s what the Jesus Table people say. From what I’ve heard, the grace and help extended to those in need who attend this weekly event goes beyond just a hot meal. It sounds like a great way to love people like Jesus. I hope to check it out for myself soon.
