What Happens When You Forget Eternity

“When you forget eternity, you tend to lose sight of what’s important. When you lose sight of what’s truly important, you live for what is temporary, and your heart seeks satisfaction where it cannot be found… Let the values of eternity be the values that shape your living today, and keep telling yourself that the difficulties of today will someday completely pass away.” —Paul Tripp

Last Post we saw how Jesus shared about the gift he had for the woman at the well, and the gift he has for us, the water that becomes a well inside, a well of living water that springs up into everlasting life.

The 7th Man In Her Life

After he spoke of that gift, Jesus talked about the six men in the Samaritan woman’s life: her previous five husbands and the lover Read More

Living Water by Shellie Gonzalez-CC

Thirsty Again

Last post from the gospel of John we talked about how Jesus loved both the Samaritan woman living on the margin, and the Jewish man leading the mainstream. And we talked about how we need to love people in the same way Jesus did: all people, from all walks. Jesus loved them all.

We left off with Jesus asking the woman at the well for a drink of water. And when he does, she asks him why he, a Jewish man, would ask her, a woman of Samaria, for a drink.

And this is how he answers:

Things I Heard In Church: These 2 (two-ish) Questions

Things I heard in church: These 2 (two-ish) Questions

First, the wrong question. This is a question I’ve asked myself in the past and a question most of us ask: “How much can I please myself and still be saved?”

But that’s my self serving, selfish nature asking that question. Here’s the second and right question to ask, a question I don’t ask enough: “How close can I get to Christ? How Can I grow closer? What can I do to draw closer to God?” (James 4:8)

Martin Luther King–And Anger

MLK by Mike Licht - CC“I had spoken hastily and resentfully. Yet I knew that this was no way to solve a problem. ‘You must not harbor anger,’ I admonished myself. ‘You must be willing to suffer the anger of the opponent, and yet not return anger. You must not become bitter. No matter how emotional your opponents are, you must be calm.” –Martin Luther King

I’m reminded of Jesus’ words when he said, “…go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.'” (Matthew 9:13)

He quoted this scripture from Hosea–twice. (Hosea 6:6, Matthew 9:13, 12:7)

The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. Whosoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:34-36
