Things I heard in church: These 2 (two-ish) Questions
First, the wrong question. This is a question I’ve asked myself in the past and a question most of us ask: “How much can I please myself and still be saved?”
But that’s my self serving, selfish nature asking that question. Here’s the second and right question to ask, a question I don’t ask enough: “How close can I get to Christ? How Can I grow closer? What can I do to draw closer to God?” (James 4:8)
From Brett Meador’s teaching, The Dangers of Discontentment, Sunday, 6/14/2015
“I had spoken hastily and resentfully. Yet I knew that this was no way to solve a problem. ‘You must not harbor anger,’ I admonished myself. ‘You must be willing to suffer the anger of the opponent, and yet not return anger. You must not become bitter. No matter how emotional your opponents are, you must be calm.” –Martin Luther King
